Winters are knocking on our door and it is time to renew your skin care products so that your skin is ready for the change in season.
While summers have a lot of us struggling with extra oil, winters cause a whole other set of issues. For dry and normal skin ladies the skin starts getting drier and even peels off. But oily beauties are not left out and soon their skin goes in reverse gear tending to go from combination to dry.
Hence it becomes imperative to prepare well for your skin as the winter approaches.
Switch to a cream based cleanser, and if you have dry skin opt for cleansers specially targeted for dry skin. Follow with a good moisturizer. Even if you have oily skin you will notice that in winters you will surely need to moisturize. What I personally do is opt for lightweight moisturizers or herbal cold creams that I use sparingly so that my skin does not break out yet remains soft and supple.
Whether I say it or not I am sure each one of you will focus on the skin of your face. What you might tend to neglect is the skin on the rest of your body. While moisturizers are essential in summers they become a necessity during winters. The best way to make the most of a moisturizer is to apply it right after a warm shower. Simply towel dry and lather on a good moisturizer. This allows the moisturizer to sink into the skin. And don't forget to apply moisturizer to your elbows, knees and feet specially the ankles.
While you get to change your skin care items it is equally essential to focus on your diet. Include more nuts, tons of fresh fruit like oranges and savor the seasonal veggies like saag (mustard greens) which is full of protein.
I am sure as the winters set in you all start making changes to your skin care routine. This winter secret of yours could win you a lovely Vivel Cell Renew Hamper.

So what is your winter secret?
If your skin gets very dry in winter, avoid using masks and alcohol-based toners that can strip vital oil from your skin. Instead, use a cleansing milk or mild foaming cleanser, a toner with no alcohol, and masks that are hydrating rather than clay-based.

For winters, it's really important to keep skin hydrated both internally and externally. I apply heavy moisturizer during night and keep the light one's for day. For hands and feet, i apply moisturizer and then wear socks in the night so that my feet are also moisturized. For internal hydration, i set alarm for every hour which says "drink water" :D :D Lol, i know it's funny... but i seriously do this and this keeps my skin hydrated from inside.

Beauty Tip - In winters, keeping skin moisturized and hydrated both inside and out leads to radiant skin. Drink loads of water and use a rich noncomedogenic moisturizer for great skin. A good balanced diet and exercise are also imperative.

Since Bombay doesnt have very severe Winters, I just make minor changes toy routine, like a slightly heavier moisturiser and body butter instead of lotion for my body.
ReplyDeleteI like to apply my moisturiser as soon as I come out from shower. It helps to retain my moisture. Also I drink lots of water to prevent dehydration. :)

Awesome contest!
ReplyDeleteWinter season is my favorite but I do need to take extra care of my super dry skin then. I have to switch to body butters as lotions do not work for me.. and for the extra dry areas like my elbows and feet I like to use castor oil which is excellent in keeping dryness at bay. I do not forget to drink 8 glasses of water, do not miss on the sunscreen and apply a banana face pack(just mashed banana) every week.

ReplyDeleteI tend to use "heavier" nighttime creams during the winter #BSP
ReplyDeleteI use products containing shea butter, petrolatum, mineral oil,tea tree oil or glycerin. For intense relief, i moisturize hands and feet at night, and then slip on socks to lock in the moisture.
ReplyDeleteLot's of water, warm drinks and your skin always moisturized. Lately, I have been loving this Green Tea Seed Cream by Innisfree. It is just divine.
ReplyDeleteMy myntra goes as:
ReplyDeleteExfoliate -- Hydrate -- Eating right
apply moisturizer as soon as you get out of the shower and yes sunscreen isn't just for summertime!
Winter sun can still damage your skin, so sunscreen continues :)
