Today is 12-12-12 - rejoice to be breathing on this once in a 100 years opportune date!!!!
Now getting back to my post - when stylecraze was closing its online shop I redeemed my points and bought a product which I was longing to get for quite some time but wasn’t sure of what shade to purchase. Since I had points to redeem I thought I’d take a chance, I did some Google search to find out closest match to Indian skin tones and bought the shade FS 38. Here begins my take on this product sought by professional make-up artists and specially for TV photography where it is important to hide all blemishes and give a flawless look.
What the company claims
“Successfully proven cream make-up in stick form. The special base of TV Paint Stick allows gentle make-up application that provides effective covering at the same time. The KRYOLAN assortment of more than 250 color nuances for selection is truly extraordinary - which makes this preparation indispensable for stage, film, TV and video work.
TV Paint Stick is available in a variety of more than 120 shades.
Available in a handy twist-up cylinder.”
The Product
The Kryolan TV Paint stick is a foundation that comes in a twist up stick form. The stick is thick (the diameter is about 2.5 cm) and is grey in color. It is easy to twist up and back down making it super easy to carry around. The product can be applied with fingers, foundation brush or foundation sponge. There is no smell and the texture is thick and creamy.
My Experience
The Kryolan TV Paint Stick is said to be a great product. I remember the make up artist used this on my face at my wedding and looking at how well she had covered all scars I had specifically asked her to let me know her secret product (which she did!). The foundation needs proper moisturization before application without which your skin’s dry areas will start becoming flaky. Now that is a problem for me because any moisturizer normally breaks me out and without moisturizer this product does not work at all specially now that winters have settled in.
So what I do is use a anti-acne cream from Himalaya as the base. Then I take a wet foundation sponge, and then take very small amount of the foundation on the sponge and simply wipe it all over my face. It is important to note that only a small amount of product is needed at a time and you can build up on areas that need more coverage.
FS 38 is a shade that is tad bit light for my skin but if I apply it properly it looks fine and brightens up my face. The trick again is to have a well moisturized face. I think FS 36 would have suited me better but both FS 36 and FS 38 are shades for normal Indian skin tones (neither too fair nor dark). I use my Basicare Duet Foundation Sponge to give me a flawless finish after I have applied enough product on my face (you can check the detailed review of the Basicare Duet Foundation Sponge HERE)
The amount of product in this stick is very good and will last a long time. The best part is that the expiry of the product is also 4 years so you have enough time to use it up!
Another great thing about the product is that it is water proof, yes it will stay on your face for a good 8 hours and beyond. So if you are planning to go to a party or wedding then this could be your product for the night!
Swatches
I have applied a lot of product to show you the shade. This amount is actually enough to cover the face if you don’t have too many blemishes.
The blended swatches below have not been blended completely – this is just to give you an idea on how the product evens out the skin and hides my veins which otherwise stand out prominently on my hand.

Have you tried the Kryolan TV Paint Stick?
Hi Shilpa
ReplyDeleteI have the TV Paint stick in 303
lovely color corrector for dark circles
I use it daily
nice review :)
LOve Kryolan products
thanks for sharing Vish, I'll add it to my wish list :)
Deletenice reviews, Isn't it difficult to use stick foundations??
ReplyDeletethe easiest way to use them is with a wet sponge - and this one is easy to apply no issues at all
DeleteAre they really waterproof as in going to the beach and wont come off? Lady at kryolan said in order to maje it waterproof is to powder it with the kryolan waterproof translucent powder but my question is can it be just a drug store translucent? Please email me the answer on www.mimi.zammit@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Mireille
DeleteI used mine at the beach recently and it did not come off but I would like to tell you that I used it over a face primer and I do not swim - so my face only gets splashed with water but is never under-water.
I would suggest you use a good face primer underneath to make the staying power longer. Also regular drugstore translucent powder won't work. I have not used the Kryolan waterproof translucent powder but you can try using a make up fixer on top of this to prolong the staying power in water.
I hope this helps!
Oh and I tried to email you but the email address you mentioned has some problems.
hi.... yesterday i bought a kryolan tv paint stick in fs36 and as i got home a friend of mine told me to check out if it is the original or not because i bought from a local shop which was likely of having fake products and i was like I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT WHILE BUYING :O....she showed me her tv paint stick which was original ( bought from naheed, karachi an year ago) and i compared both the sticks ( mine and hers) and i found little difference in packaging and fragrance. i m afraid i bought the fake one.. please tell me how to find out if your tv paint stick is original or not. please do reply i m in great trouble..need help.
ReplyDeleteHi Rida
DeleteThe original stick comes with holographic sticker on it. Apart from that you can also check if there is a bar code printed on the packaging.
If your fake stick has both of these as well then it would be good to send me photos of them and I'll pass it on to the company (or you could directly email them as well). I'm sure they will take corrective action and try and find the source of such dupes.
I have a doubt mine is fake I ordered from eBay @price 525rs only and there is no bar code nd mfd date : 6/2015 expiry date : 6/2020 . Whereas shelf life is only 2 to 4years I guess.

Hi Saria
DeleteYes 303 TV Paint stick is a color corrector stick - the orange shade is good for concealing under eye circles and blemishes.
Hi Shilpa
ReplyDeleteDo you know where i can buy this product online please. Thanks
Kajal
Hi Kajal, Unfortunately at this point in time it's not available online. You will have to either search on ebay or visit their store.
DeleteDo you know what shade I would be in this as I'm a shade NW20 in Mac.
ReplyDeleteHi, since they have a huge array of shades I'll suggest you visit their site where they have a small pic of each shade, that will give you a good idea.
DeleteHi Shilpa, I am recently shifted to the U.S. And I am looking for Kryolan TV paint stick 303. I am unable to find it since the numbering of product is different. Can you please help me with the product number which is closest to 303 in the US. Thanks 😊
ReplyDeleteHi Garima, I can't find the old numbering anywhere, 303 might have been changed to something else globally. I suggest you to drop a mail to info-usa@kryolan.com and ask them directly as they would be able to guide you the best!
DeleteSuch a nice review!
ReplyDeletePlease tell me if it is smudge proof, kiss proof and transfer resistant.
Thanks. :)
Don't but kryolan products online they r FAKE / DUPLICATE . I ordered this stick from eBay @price ₹520/ . There is no bar code ND mfd date: 6/2015 n expiry : 6/2020 . Whereas on d official website it says shelf life is only 4years .
ReplyDeleteThe expiry is mentioned as 4 years, but there's a symbol showing it can be used for 24 months only after opening . I had not checked this before and feel bad now as it's expired and doesn't work too well :(
