Gold Flakes – sounds like the name of a cigarette brand, but this eye shadow quartet from Tips and Toes is not injurious to anyones’ health, on the contrary it is a glamorous little product you would love to add to your stash.
What the company claims
The exotic pearl effect blends instantly & brightens your eyes, smooth moisturising formula that glides on your eyes.
Available in Cherry Plum (plum palette), Gold Flakes (brown palette), Fairy Blues (blue palette), Envious Green(green palette)
The Product
Tips & Toes Exotic Eyes comes in a small sleek silver packaging with a mirror finish. Inside the pack there are four complementary shades of brown, a double ended applicator sponge and an inbuilt mirror for easier application on the go.
My Experience
All the four shades in Exotic Eyes Gold Flakes palette are decently pigmented. For day time two swipes is enough but for an evening look you might have to layer upto 3 coats to get the proper effect on your eye lids.
The Gold Flakes quartet has four shades, three are shimmery while one is matte. There is a light shade which is good as a highlighter, two browns that can be used on the entire lids, one is more copper tinged while the other is a proper brown. Then there is a matte finished deep brown color to create the perfect smokey effect.
The texture of the eye shadows is very soft and silky. I used this on my eye lids without a primer and they lasted the entire day though I did end up with a bit of smudging around the lower lash line with the dark brown shade. But with a decent primer this should stay put all day long.
If you don’t own a brown palette that you can always carry around with you for an instant perk up of the eyes then I would recommend you buy this one because its not costly, is travel friendly in terms of packaging and the colors stay put for a decent amount of time.

What I like
- pretty brown shades
- easy to carry around packaging
- lasts the whole day
- good for beginners as its not expensive
- the brown matte shade is very pretty
What I don’t like
- I would have loved this to have a more deeper pigmentation
- Instead of 3 glimmer shades it would have been more versatile had it had 3 matte and one shimmery highlighter
