Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow Trio: Swatch & Review

If there was a prize for the most delayed post I would have to award it to this post that you are reading today. I have had this beautiful little palette from Clinique for months, the pictures have been sitting in a draft for weeks and yet I never got down to sharing my views about it. So without delaying it any further let me tell you all about this beauty.

The Clinique Color Surge Eye shadow Trio is a beautiful selection of 3 eye shadows and a blush. The packaging is sleek, sturdy and travel friendly.

The eye shadows sit in a row on the top while the blush is below. And within the casing there is space for a blush brush as well as an eye shadow and liner applicator.

There is a mirror inside making this a perfect travel companion.

The blush brush has decent bristles, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. The brush is easy to use and sized appropriately for the blush dimensions. Two swipes of this gives a gentle color to the cheeks.

Since I'm wheatish in complexion I brush this over 3-4 times on my cheeks to get visible color on my cheeks. If you look at the swatch on my thumb you will notice how soft & natural the color of the blush is.

The eye shadow applicator has two ends. One end has a good quality sponge which gives good color payoff on the eyelids without using too much of the product. The other end is actually a liner brush which you can wet with a small amount of water, swipe over the matte black eye shadow and you have a your very own eye liner in the same palette. This applicator is my favorite bit in this palette.

All the colors are beautiful and look very natural. I don't think this palette is available any more as a single kit but you can purchase the eye shadows as duos and singlets. The first two eye shadows are from Clinique Strawberry Fudge Duo and the last one is a matte color called "Slate" from Stay Matte Eyeshadow (1.2 gm). The blusher is soft pressed powder blusher in shade
"New Clover" (1.8 gm).

Here is a closer picture of the eye shadows, as  you can see the matte slate looks very less pigmented on its own but when wet this applies as a deep gray black liner (not jet black like kohl) and looks very nice without looking overly dramatic.

Overall I love this palette for daily use specially when I'm heading off to work but want to add some color to my face on a dull Monday morning!

  1. Congratulations on your new domain!! The colors look good... i mean a good break from the neutrals and yet not overtly dramatic.
