Top 4 Favorite Shades of ColourPop Lippie Stix Swatched & Reviewed

The ColourPop craze hit the makeup crazy fans long back. I had been eyeing a few products myself and finally took the plunge to add some of their lipsticks to my stash.

ColourPop is a company based in USA and in the month of May they had a promotion going on where they were giving free ground and international shipping. I did not want my lipsticks to get stuck at customs and so got these delivered to a friend's place in USA.

I got four lippie stix, 1 Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick and a lip primer. As part of my order I got two mini Ultra Satin lipsticks free.

I spent quite a lot of time online trying to narrow down the shades  I wanted.
In this post I will be sharing my top 4 favorite shades from ColourPop Lippie Stix.

The ColourPop Lippie Stix come in a white plastic casing. The end tip of the stick is color coded to represent the lipstick shade. I think the packaging is very attractive without being flashy at all.

There are a total of around 62 shades in the lippie stix category with textures ranging from Matte, Satin, Matte X, and Crème. Different shades come in different textures so you can't just pick a shade and then chose the texture you want it in.

Price: $5 (after conversion charges this comes out to be around Rs 400)

The shades that I picked out are Contempo, Cami, Parker and Lumière.

MLBB Shades of ColourPop Lippie Stix Reviewed

Cami Lippie Stix is an ultra matte cool toned mauve lipstick. This is the most drying of all the lippie stix that I have but the color is absolutely gorgeous.

Parker is a matte mid-tone warm nude - this is what I would describe as a romantic soft brown color. Another MLBB shade and would be a favorite for a lot of college going girls who want just a dash of color without going overboard.

Contempo is a matte formula. The shade is a dusty rose. This is the perfect kind of shade for fair to medium dark skin tones. This could be the MLBB shade for a lot of girls.

Lumière is a matte dusty mauve pink. This lippie stix shade is from the Kathleen Lights range.

Swatches, Lippie Stix, Matte Lipsticks,

As you will notice all these four shades are very close to each other on my arm swatches. I do notice that Contempo and Lumiere turn a shade darker as the day progresses and specially if I have a lip primer underneath. The fresh swatches also look quite hydrating as you can see there is a slight sheen on the arm swatches.

I love the shades but one thing which I found very annoying with these matte lipsticks is that they settle into fine lines making your lips look extremely dry. Strangely enough lips lips don't feel dry.
What happens is that you are going about your day feeling confident until you take a look in the mirror and are horrified by how dry your lips look. Thankfully I carry the primer with me and top up the lipstick with a coat of the primer whenever the lipstick starts to look super dry on the lips.

You need to moisturize your lips very well before you apply the lipsticks. Applying a lip balm underneath makes these lipsticks look very pretty although it does reduce the staying power.

I have had the lipsticks last on my lips for an entire work day. They fade evenly when they do so it doesn't look bad. Eating a heavy meal will take off the lipsticks a bit more (think chole bhature!). The lipsticks also leave lip marks on cups.

I think these are great buys despite the extremely drying nature because
1. Lasting power is great
2. Colors are gorgeous
3. The packaging is chic
4. The price is pocket friendly ($5 is around Rs 400)

Do let me know which one of these shades would you chose and why?

  5. I love the shades you chose - i'm a rose neutral kind of gal. I haven't tried ColourPop- but i'm more of a lip gloss person.

  6. I've picked up several due to the affordable price but really hate the quality control- some colours are SO OFF from blogger swatches that they send to review (beyond the normal monitor differences), and it's really turned me off from the brand.

  10. I always look at the brand and never buy. Sucks that they get into your lips to appear dry :(
