FACES Cosmetics Mother's Day Event - Glam On Color Perfect Launch

A week ago FACES Cosmetics hosted a special event for mother's on the occasion of Mother's Day. I took my mom to this event and we both had a lot of fun.

This was the first time my mom came along for such an event and she was surprised to get a make over done by the MUA. The MUA was a sweet girl who not only gave my mom a makeover but also gave her special tips on skin care and make up application based on my mom's skin.

On this occasion FACES Cosmetics also launched their Glam On range of Color perfect lipsticks, Perfect blush, Eyeliner, Mascara and Prime Perfect Pressed powder.

Glam On Prime Perfect Pressed Powder is a velvety compact that blends effortlessly to give you a flawless skin and a radiant glow. My mom's skin instantly brightened up and looked very fresh (she already has great skin but the compact just made everything look perfect). On her cheeks the MUA applied the Glam On Perfect Blush - this is available in 4 beautiful colors - a lovely pink was applied to my mom and gave her cheeks a natural flush glow.

Hi friends, if you follow me on twitter you must have read my tweet about how I was scared about getting highlights done to my hair since I have never colored my hair before. Well that day I was actually sitting at the Lakme Salon Punjabi Bagh (New Delhi) to try out the 'Show Stopping Hair' experience that Lakme has launched. These are hair styles that you can get done for yourself which are as stylish as hair that you see on the  fashion runways! As they say #HairIsFashion

There are three prominent hair coloring trends being offered:

The Aubern Blend - this is a bold colored look where streaks of red color pop out from your hair.

The Helix Flair - a combination of golden highlights and a bit of color with asymmetrical cuts.

The Pixie Crop - for short haired girls this one has bright hues of brown and orange throwing in the right amount of texture to stylize your hair.

After a consulation with my stylist Mr Suresh I was coaxed into getting the Helix Flair done. Yes I say coaxed because I really wanted to play safe with the Aubern blend - I kept telling him that I only wanted a deep burgundy done in the Aubern blend style. But he explained to me why he was suggesting the Helix Flair. My hair is wavy and jet black. He told me a burgundy color won't show up properly and that getting caramel brown highlights on my black hair would really soften the look and stand out without giving me a drastic appearance change. He spoke to me about my professional profile and understood my apprehension in getting a drastic change done. He also said that burgundy looks better on slightly deeper skin tones and a golden would go well with my skin tone.

See the below picture - this is the Helix Flair - you can understand why I was so skeptical about this - it is drastic as compared to always having lived with black hair!

So, after a lot of discussion and cajoling, I finally gave in and let him do his work. He showed me this entire book of possible hair colors that we could work with and the perfect golden shades for my hair. As they say sometimes its better to leave things in the hand of experts.
