I was really not sure of doing this post and am still not sure if I should be... I was supposed to create a look for the red-carpet Cannes film festival - I had this really pretty look in mind, a flowy gown, a fantastic up-do and almost neutral eyes with bold lips. First off I don't have any gown in my wardrobe - now I don't get to attend these fancy red carpet events so never ever had the need to buy one. So I initially thought a saree would be nice but then the only full outfit post I remember doing was in a saree so well... there I go ranting on again.
Cutting it all short - here is what I came up with
I hope you haven't already closed the browser window after looking at that pic above!
And if you are still here, thanks!
Let me tell you more about the outfit. Instead of my dream gown I wore a nice long dress with a unique print which almost looks as if it is hand painted. I teamed it up with high heel court shoes. I wore swarovski danglers in my ears. Keeping the accessories and rest of the makeup simple I wore a bright red lipstick (got one part of my dream look right - the bright red lips!)
The dress is from shopnineteen.com - its made of a soft fabric with an inner lining. It has cutouts at the waist and a full zippered back. I love the detailing on this and the print. The prices on their website are really pocket friendly and you can pick out more dresses, top and accessories to match.
In the above pic I put up my hair in a bun and tried to pose in a more hoity-toity look. And here is a list of products I used for my makeup:
1. Kryolan TV Paint Stick (reviewed HERE) for the base.
2. Clinique Blush New Clover from the palette reviewed HERE
3. Sigma Eyeshadow Luna all over the lids (buy it HERE)
4. Sigma Eyeshadow Notre Dame on outer corners (buy it HERE)
5. Inglot AMC Eyeshadow Shine #39 (reviewed HERE)
6. L'Oreal Gel-Matic Liner in Brown to line the eyes
7. L'Oreal Moist Matt Lipstick Flaming Kiss on the lips
(and I realized later on when I was editing the pics that I had forgotten to add mascara!)
I know this is not really a red-carpet worthy attire but well lets just call it a budget friendly look - what say? I think this look can get a few heads to turn on a night out?
I will be reviewing the L'Oreal Gel-matic liner in brown and the Moist Matt Flaming Red lipstick in a few days. I do hope you like the dress. I really wish I could have taken these pics in natural day light - it does make a huge difference.
I do wish one day I'll wear an Elie Saab and walk down the red carpet for real :)
