Shoulder, cross-body, clutch–what is your favorite BAG this season?

Recently I was asked to write up about my most prized bag on a fashion website. I had to find one bag that I would really want to own – so I searched a lot of fashion websites, designer bag manufacturers, top Italian bag websites and so on but could not find more than a couple of bags that I would really want to buy.

The reason was simple – all the good looking bags were made of animal skin! All the animal friendly pieces were actually boring as per my taste. Now let me tell you I’m not a big fan of too many buttons, bolts, buckles or beads et al on my bags. I like my bags to be simple and elegant. And maybe that is the reason I end up liking bags which are more structured and hence are made of leather.

Anyhow, during my little research I did end up checking out a lot of bag trends that are going around this season. I am going to share some of the bag styles that I myself am quite fond off.

This is your go to bag. Be it college, office or just a visit to a friend’s place a shoulder bag comes in very handy. It can stock up on all your essentials and be carried around with ease. Shoulder bags are available in various shapes and sizes. While the office bags tend to be more sophisticated with straight lines, a college shoulder bag can by colorful and crazy. Large shoulder bags have been going around since last year (or maybe even before that) and have been seen in various shades from the classy browns to the bright neon and this year the color has been coral!

Cross Body Bags or Sling Bags

These bags are youthful, sporty, trendy and yet very convenient specially if you are going out shopping – because you don’t have to worry about holding the bag in your hand or balancing it on your shoulder. It simply hangs around your neck down. The only drawback is that you can’t put a lot of weight in such bags because your neck will eventually start hurting!

But for a visit to the local grocery store or to a friends place when you don’t have to carry more than your mobile and some cash this is your best bet. Your hands are free to eat your favorite ice cream or to even play around with balloons if you wish Winking smile

One of the cross body bags I have seen in a lot of shops this season is the one which has a flower on the front as in the image below

Available in a variety of colors this cross body bag also comes at a very reasonable price.
Cross body or sling bags have been adopted even by high end luxury fashion brands such Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Chanel. A lot of Hollywood celebrities are also seen carry these bags in various shapes and sizes.
Here we even have Sonakshi Sinha sporting a cross body bag

The Clutch

On an evening out you don’t want to be holding something too big. Rather you want to carry your essentials (maybe a lipstick, some cash and your mobile) and you want to add some extra style to your outfit. This is when a clutch comes to your rescue. Clutches come in various materials – from daily use clutches to very beautiful party clutches, you can take your pick. It is called a clutch because you need to ‘clutch’ it in your hands. Some clutches do have hidden straps that you can attach when you are dancing so that you can sway your hands freely. Smile

The most expensive clutch till date, at whopping price tag of $1.9 million, is the Hermes Birkin created by Japanese designer Ginza Tinaka. It is made of platinum and encrusted with 2000 diamonds. But the best part is that the little diamond strap that comes with the clutch can be detached and worn as a necklace or a bracelet. Also the 8-carat center diamond piece can be detached and used as a separate jewellery piece!

My personal favourite to work or for travel overseas is a shoulder bag because it can house all my documents, make-up, mobile, earphones, and other things I need to carry with me.
For a day out shopping I prefer a cross body bag with multiple pockets. And a clutch with a detachable strap is what I need for a attending a party.

If I have to pick one for the season then it would surely be a cross body bag.

So what style of bag is your favourite this season?

  7. There may be more options at the expense of the female buyers. The most important element of fashion is always seen in these bags. Indian Shoulder Bags are really lively and attractive.
