Lush Sugar Scrub - Review

Winter is the perfect time to give your body a nice sugar scrub. In my October Velvette box I had received a sample of the Lush Sugar Scrub (green in color) and I put it away only to use it when the body dryness starts to irritate.

What the company claims
“Our Sugar Scrub is hard, but a bit of a sweetie. Its no nonsense stance stimulates activity and tackles cellulite with fennel and ginger. Skin calming lavender has a balancing effect. Get yourself wet in the shower or bath, but don't let the bar get under the running water or it'll be lost before it can prove itself. Scrub, scrub, scrub and rinse away. It doesn't waste any time getting down to business.”

The Product
The Lush Sugar Scrub comes in a dome shaped plastic packaging – looks cute but not friendly for use – you need to crush and transfer this product into another container for use. The product itself is made of fine sugar crystals packed together
The smell is a little weird but I guess its because of the mix of fennel and ginger with lavender.

My Experience
I find this product good in terms of its scrubbing action – leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. In two weeks of use I have not seen any improvement in tackling cellulite (even though my skin doesn’t have too much cellulite deposit anyways).

It is difficult to save this product from wastage if you plan to use the entire dome shape. It will dissolve before you finish your bath. So crush the Lush Sugar Scrub, put it in a container and each time you shower, take an appropriate quantity, rub it on wet skin and then rinse off. Make sure to wet your body well before scrubbing else you might find this a bit harsh for delicate skin areas.

I have a 50gm packing (normal packing is of 100gms) – and for me it was good enough only for 5 showers.
I personally hate the smell but since it does not linger on for long I was happy with it.

Details at a glance
Packaging: temporary package – transfer contents to another container before use
Fragrance: weird – difficult to explain
Texture: fine sugar granules
Price: Rs 350 (100gm)

What I Like
  • makes skin soft and smooth

What I don’t like
  • smell
  • packaging
  • dissolves too quickly
  • does not work on the claim of cellulite reduction – maybe need to use this for over several months to notice a difference

I like my sugar scrubs to have heavenly fragrances so that I can relax as I scrub away. So despite the Lush Sugar Scrub making my skin soft and smooth I am not likely to purchase this again.
