  1. my grandma secret : grind nutmeg with milk (like we grind chandan on stone for puja) mix some honey and apply all over your face .. keep it for good 20-25 minutes then rinse with warm water. Follow this with slightly warm almond oil massage (since nutmeg is a little dry in nature) . this regime will even out your skin and take cares of the complexion plus elasticity of skin.

It will help the skin recover faster from acne marks and other blemishes, including sun-tan...and boy!! It does work...and yes, dried pomegranate seeds ground into fine powder with dried orange peel, mixed with a bit of raw milk makes for a great face wash every morning :)

  10. Apply lemon juice on your face for few times every day or alternatively apply toothpaste on it and soak it with a tea bag (she had mentioned a cloth filled with tea powder) in lukewarm water and squash it on the pimples for five minutes and then rise.Granny also said that “Drink lots and lots of water to look beautiful, healthy and energetic”.

  11. Hi Shilpa,
My Nani (Granny) has impeccable complexion with no spots, no freckes, no ugly marks , whiteheads etc, just age bound wrinkles. Whenever I have a zit she is after my life to apply black pepper on it. I found that suggestion awful till the the day she forced me to it. And my zit was reduced and gone in to time. I realised that day grannys are granny for a reason!!

The second suggestion that she gives me is to apply grated tomatoes for an unparrallel glow. I really vouch by this one. I do this a lot even when tomatoes are expensive :P.

And my fav is applying some ripe/Over ripe banana on face to get silky soft skin. Wash it in 10-15 min with lukewarm water. I hate bananas as fruit so all bananas my Mom gave me to eat made way to this pack. And frankly I have more overripe bananas at home than ripe. No one likes bananas so eventually they get over ripe :)
