Like the last two years, the time has come to raise a toast to the women who have inspired us all. The L’Oréal Paris - Femina Women Awards, 2014 is all about felicitating women who have made a difference. Women who have stood up for a cause that’s closer to their hearts; whose efforts have brought smiles on faces of many, and who have helped others lead a better life.
There are four categories under Readers’ Choice awards for which fans can vote online.
They are as follows:
a) Favorite Face of a Cause - women who are doing their bit to help the lives of others either through donations, helping rape victims or running NGOs. My favorite is Palak who has been raising money through her singing concerts to help needy children get a heart surgery done.
b) Science and Innovation - women who have used their intellect to create something noteworthy accessible to people from all walks of life - Dr K Vijaya Lakshmi's no electricity water purifier is my favorite because it not only saves electricity but is also affordable for everyone.
c) Online Influencer - women who have used the online media to speak for a cause - my vote goes to Mehvish Mushtaq for the thought behind her android application.
d) Social Impact - women making a mark to improve the social fabric of our nation - my vote goes to Ruchira Gupta who is trying to protect women and children forced into s*x trafficking.
