InspiratioNailJune - Inspired By Household Items + Glitter Jelly Sandwich Nail Art

Hi everyone, here is another quick nail art I did for the recent #ILLChallenge of glitter sandwich nail art and for #STNChallenge InspiratioNailJune challenge of inspired by a household item. Now the household item I picked (in a hurry) is actually a plastic bracelet which has this jelly like look to it - little plastic scraps inside a transparent plastic. I did do a proper 'household' nail art too but did not have enough pictures to share (one picture is there right at the end of this post!)

For newbies like me, glitter sandwich is basically a technique where you take a polish that is translucent, apply one layer of that polish. Once it dries you apply a glitter polish. And then you top everything with another layer of your translucent polish.

I used a polish from Etude (i'm not sure if this actually belongs to Etude or is simply a dupe - check for a post on instagram to see the polish pic) and the glitter polish is from LA Splash (will do a full post soon)

On my accent nail I actually did a sandwich of the polish, a layer of acrylic paint pattern, another layer of polish and another layer of some acrylic paint - this was to get the multi-depth effect of the bracelet I have in my hand.
For those of you who are regular followers of the blog - you would know I had won the Tanishq Snap Out Of It contest for women's day - well I had got a Rs 1000 voucher from Tanishq (along with a day of fun with some wonderful women from Delhi!) and finally I made use of the voucher - I love the collection of rings that Tanishq has and got my self this dainty piece which I can wear to work. One of my favorite pieces from the Mia collection is out of stock so I will have to wait until it becomes available again. I also happened to visit their Iva collection exhibition going on at the store and loved the pieces - very different and would definitely strike a cord with ladies who do not like wearing regular gold jewelry.

And now as promised a look at the 'household' inspired nail art - I took inspiration from a chattai - its a mat woven from thin plastic strips. I did a basket weave nail art using self made decal polish strips that I wove into a basket pattern. It took a lot of time so I did this only on the accent nail. The technique was inspired by Alpana from Alps Nail Art - she does excellent 3-D nail art so do visit her page.
