When I Met Mr Amish Tripathi

This post is not about beauty in terms of makeup but beauty in terms of writing. Beauty of words that can make you laugh, cry, feel stunned, words that can change your world!

I had read The Immortals of Meluha last year and was hooked on to the story, the characters and the writing style of Amish Tripathi. Hailing from Benares his writing is soaked in the Indian mythology and philosophies of the great Upanishads. He left a successful banking career to write and write he did. After the tremendous success of The Immortals of Meluha came The Secret of The Nagas. And the most recent part of this Shiva Trilogy is The Oath Of The Vayuputras.

Recently when Indiatimes held a contest through which I got a chance to meet the author in person. I was excited and did not know how this meeting will turn out. So last week I went to the TOI office where I was cordially received at the reception and taken to a small conference room which was all setup waiting to receive the author.

Amish walked in and broke the ice by eating his favorite bourbon biscuit after which we dived straight into the question answer session. Vibha from the TOI team started with her set of questions - what parts of the story touched Amish the most and whether he missed writing since the trilogy had now come to an end? Amish not only answered with a lot of ease but also drew us into the world of Indian mythology. One by one we got a chance to ask our questions to which Amish replied, making us laugh with him as he took us into the journey of writing the trilogy. He remembers so many shlokas by heart, he can tell you scriptures and stories through which he met Shiva, the Great Lord worshiped across India.

What came across was his humility, his devotion to God - not as a Being to be feared but one we should all love; and his immense love for his family specially his wife!

After the Q&A we got a chance to get our own copies of the book signed by him. I carried all three books and got them all signed!

I am still reading The Secret Of The Nagas - there are places in the book which made me cry, cry so much that I could not turn the page to read further and had to stop and take a break. There are instances which make you smile and of course there is no way you can avoid falling in love with Lord Shiva.

Below is a bad (very bad) picture of me but the only one I have smiling with the author and his fans :)

Have you read any of the books in the series of the Shiva Trilogy? If yes what are the moments that touched your heart?

How To Organize Your Closet

Yes friends I have been missing in action for the past couple of days. Instead of doing product reviews I've been spending time trying to wrap up winters and usher in the summers. And here is a look into how I decided to do this.

Well for starters I had to clean up my wardrobe. It was stocked with all woolens and the summer dresses were dying to come out. So this is how I spent my weekend.

This is how my wardrobe looked before - yes I know its just overflowing in all places and is pretty messed up!

After going through a laborious 3 hours of cleaning, sorting organizing, here I present my much neater and organized summer wardrobe.... TADA!!!!

There are 3 drawers that you see that still need organizing - they contain smaller nick knacks which means at least 1 more hour of sorting - that I have postponed for sometime later! Phew!

And now here is my little 'How To' for you if you are also planning to organize your wardrobe.
