Hair and Care Fruit Oils - Review

How many of you regularly oil your hair, raise your hand!
Well I should go hide under a table for not being very religious about using hair oil.

Since time immemorial grandmothers and mothers have been telling their daughters the importance of using hair oil. Hair oil nourishes your hair from inside out ensuring it stays soft and manageable. Some people find oiling time consuming, others don't like the stickiness you get with the oils, and some others, well they are basically lazy like me!

Fruit oils, hair oil

Hair & Care hair oils have always been a preference if I had to chose a hair oil simply for the fact that their hair oils are not sticky and heavy like some other oils. And now that they came out with fruit based hair oils I got curious. We all know that fruits are loaded with vitamins, proteins, and a host of other nutrients. Hair & Care has infused their hair oils with this goodness of fruits - a first in the market of hair oils!

Hair & Care fruit oils come in two variants with a combination of fruits chosen specifically to target special hair needs.
The Green variant is loaded with the real goodness of Olive, Mosambi, and Green Apple. The Orange variant is loaded with the real goodness of Orange, Anaar (pomegranate), and Strawberry.

These unique fruit combinations work best together to moisturize and energize hair.

Price: Rs 60 (100 ml)

Olives, green apple, hair oil

Olives helps in seal in the moisture of the hair and protect the keratin. This is due to the high content of Vitamin A, E and antioxidants.
Mosambi has vitamins that help strengthen hair so that you have less split ends and also frees hair of dandruff,
Green Apple helps promote hair growth.

Oranges have numerous benefits from every part of the fruit including pulp, juice and the peel. It acts as a natural conditioner.
Anaar strengthens the hair and gives it a natural shine owing to the essential fatty acids and punicic acid.
Strawberries contain antioxidants that provide moisture, add shine and smoothen the hair.

Strawberries, pomegranate, orange

The oil comes in a plastic bottle with a flip top cap. This makes the packaging travel friendly.

Both variants do have a distinct fragrance but after a hair wash the smell goes away. The oil is light in texture yet oily enough to be used for a deep massage. The best way to use any hair oil is to massage it into your scalp gently using the fingers. Then take a hot towel and wrap it around your head for half an hour. Post this you can let the oil rest for another half an hour before washing your hair.

I don't find the need to use a conditioner on days when I've given my head a good massage with these oils. Hair feels more manageable and looks healthier. Since this oils is light in texture you can use 2-3 drops post hair wash to make any frizz settle down.

Overall these oils are quite affordable. Some people might find the fragrance a bit overpowering but since it doesn't last after the hair wash you can still use the oil for a massage.

HPB Presents Strawberry Nail Art

This month's HPB linkup them is fruits. Finally I thought I should do Strawberry Nail Art.

I have wanted to try this nail art since a long time but always kept putting it off. It is easy do to and all you need are the following:

1. Red nail polish (I used Be Mine from the FACES Love Struck Collection)
2. Green nail polish (from Oriflame)
3. Dotting tool

HPB Presents Strawberry Nail Art

The process is simple. Coat your nail with red polish completely and let it dry. Then add a heavy coat of red polish.

When it is almost dry take a dotting tool and simple press on gently all over the polishes to create little holes. The base red polish will ensure that the places you press on with the dotting tool appear like little grooves on the strawberry fruit.

If the little dents are not very visible you can dip your dotting tool in a brown or green polish and then use it for the dotting action. It adds a bit of depth as well.

Quench Your Thirst With Pure Berry's Club Mix Syrups - Review

Summers are here and so is the need for something cool to quench the thirst. Recently I came across this pack of 'club mix' bottles from a company called Pure Berry’s. Its a indigenous brand run by the Mala family who also make jams, honey and crushes.

The Club Mix pack I got for trial contained 4 small size bottles (250ml each) - this is a good packaging size if you wish to try the product before making a purchase for a full sized bottle.

The pack comes for around Rs 225 which is extremely budget friendly.

The four flavors in my pack were Strawberries Club Mix, Lime Mock Club Mix, Blue Passion Club Mix and the fourth is actually a fruit/ice-cream topper called White Rose.

I mixed small quantities of each of these syrups with plain cold water just to taste each one out. After my initial tasting it was difficult to decide on a favorite. Each of these is very refreshing. Strawberries has a lovely sweet strawberry taste to it. Lime Mock and Blue Passion are both lemon based with Blue Passion more on the spicier side. I think I would like to make a 'gola' with crushed ice using Blue Passion.

My very own kitchen clock–simple DIY!

I love sleeping but due to a bad back my sleep is always disturbed. That is why I don’t sleep well and hence I am always running late for work. We used to have a clock in the dining area but I had to step out of the kitchen to see the time while cooking. So one fine day I decided to get a clock put up in the kitchen. We looked around and found a boring clock lying around the house.

It was a big round clock with a plain white face. The only saving grace was a bright red circumference which caught my eye. Now I really did not want to look at this boring thing every morning so I wanted to convert it into something brighter. And since my plan was to put it up in the kitchen I knew my them for the next DIY was staring at me in the face!

This is what the clock looked like (except the hands were all plain black) before it came in my hands!

After some effort this is what became of my boring clock – transformed into a pretty kitchen wall clock!
