Nail Art Using Revlon Matte Nail Polishes and Ejiubas Nail Vinyls

After many days of bare nails I finally decided to do some basic nail art. Revlon has recently launched pretty shades of nail enamels in a matte range which I wanted to try out and I also got a pack of nail vinyls from Ejiubas so I really had no reason to keep my nails bare anymore.

Before I show the nail art I tried let me share a bit about the polishes and nail vinyls.

Revlon matte nail paints come in cute matte bottles which gives them a dreamy look. The good thing about matte polishes is that you sort of have two finishes in one bottle - well technically it is a matte polish, but all it takes to transform it into a glossy finish is your regular top coat.

The shades I picked out are Sunny Matte, Cool Matte and Marine Matte.

Sunny Matte - 528 - is a lovely creamy yellow.
Cool Matte - 527 - is a blue polish
Marine Matte - 529 - is a sea green coloured polish.

Each polish is priced at Rs 190 for 8ml - currently there is a sale on Flipkart HERE where you can get that at 20% off (so yes, this is the time to collect all shades that you want to try out!)

The brushes are round like regular polish brushes. I would have really preferred a flat brush as that gives a more even finish specially with matte polishes.

The polishes are not highly opaque and require 2-3 coats for a proper even coverage. Remember to work fast when you are playing with matte polishes. Matte polishes tend to dry faster so make sure you apply a thin even coat, let it dry and then apply the second coat.

Marine and cool matte look quite similar. Marine has a hint of green to give it that sea green effect. Look at the swatch below - the pinky finger has marine matte applied to it while rest of the fingers have cool matte shade.

Sunny matte is such a happy yellow coloured polish. It does take 3 coats for that full coverage.

The polishes do not chip easily but do fade at the edges if you don't seal the edges properly.
Now coming to the nail vinyls.

I got these 7 sheets of nail vinyls to try out from Ejiubas. The vinyls are black in color and some of the sheets have 2 sets of designs (6 vinyls of each design). The vinyls are easy to pick up and place over the nails.

Some of the patterns are quite intricate and work really well.

I tried the rose shaped vinyl over sunny matte and used marine matte to create the rose pattern. I smudged the pattern a bit while removing the vinyl but I still loved the way this came out - its like a dreamy yellow and marine piece of work!

The next nail art I tried was by using the reverse of one of the vinyls. When you pick up a vinyl from the sheet it leaves behind these tiny shapes that have been cut out from the main vinyl. So I picked out this pattern from a vinyl that has a straight horizontal line with a tiny butterfly.

I placed the cut out piece on the accent nail and used a black polish to cover the nail including the vinyl. Then I gently lifted off the vinyl to reveal the cute little blue butterfly.

Vinyls are easy to use and help create gorgeous patterns without having to put in a lot of effort. A steady hand is all you need. 8 sheets of vinyls cost $16.99 but if you order now you can get these for $12.99 and the website is ejiubas.com

You can also get these at a 15% discount using the code 8NY15SHI on amazon.com
I will share more nail art using these polishes and vinyls on my instagram so do stop by there as well.
