Fighting Pimples - 7 Tips For Clearer Skin

This one is for all the young girls out there who have just started having pimples. Pimples are skin eruptions that start happening around your teens and if not taken care off can scar your face for life. I am not trying to scare you but my intent here is to share some things that you can do to make sure your pimples go away soon without leaving any marks.

The fight with pimples is not easy. And the worst is when you have a special date and there, right on the tip of your nose you get a horrible big fat pimple, or the one on your chin, or the forehead or wait, has the whole face just erupted like mad! Yes, these are all true situations that you can face if you are not careful about your skin. I have struggled with pimples for years (and still get a random one popping out unnoticed!) But I have learnt to deal with them so that the ones that erupt, go away easily without leaving horrible marks on my face.

As far as skin care is concerned there are a few things that you must do to prevent pimples.

1. Keep your hands away from your face. Our hands touch many things on the way to work or college. There might be a lot of dirt and bacteria that is not visible. Now when you touch your face with these dirty hands your delicate facial skin will react.

2. After returning from a trip outdoors, whether you are coming home from work, college or a day out shopping, always wash your face.

3. Stick to a gentle anti-bacterial face wash. Tea tree oil and Neem are ingredients known to fight bacteria. Try and include a face wash that has these ingredients. You can try the Garnier Pure Active Neem Face Wash that has both tea tree oil and neem. You can check my review of the face wash (click on the name). A good face wash will keep oil away from your skin without stripping it off moisture. To read more about the Garnier face wash you can also check the Garnier PureActive Neem Website for more details on how it works for you in fighting pimples.

4. Ensure that you are getting a good nights sleep. Stress shows up on the face immediately and guess what - it likes to show up as pimples. So make sure you are rested at night. If there is too much stress doing some yoga or meditation can help.

5. When applying creams/lotions or any makeup on your face make sure it is meant for your skin type. Using a very heavy product on sensitive skin is bound to land you in trouble. I try and add a few drops of pure tea tree essential oil to my moisturizer or makeup as well.

6. If you wear makeup always remove it before sleeping. Skin heels itself at night so remove all makeup and let it breathe. To ensure that my skin is always clean at night, I remove all makeup and then wash it with a Neem based face wash. Using a Neem and tea tree oil based face wash twice a day has really helped.

Review: The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream

On many days all you want is a clean blemish free face which looks like it has no make up on. On such carefree days you need to put away your foundation and pick up something that is lighter yet conceals any pigmentation or marks on your face. This is where BB creams come in handy. I have previously used BB Creams from other brands and have loved the light weight texture. Today I am sharing with you a new BB Cream launched a few weeks back the The Body Shop.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream promises to not only conceal but also heal your skin at the same time. Lets first take a look at the packaging.

Review: The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream

The Body Shop Tea Tree BB Cream comes in a cute chubby tube in green color. It has a flip cap that actually matches the color of the product inside. It is available in 3 shades, 01 is for fair skinned girls, 02 for medium skin (this is the one I have) and 03 for darker skin. If your skin is too dark then you might have trouble matching an exact shade but dotting shade 03 and blending it well should work. But to be sure of your shade I would still recommend that you get yourself color matched in the store.

The texture of the BB Cream is smooth, creamy but non-oily. After application it sort of goes matte. On extremely dry patches of skin I need to make sure my skin is well moisturized before I apply this BB Cream. It has a distinct tea tree fragrance which does not bother me at all. For extremely sensitive noses I would recommend applying tiny amounts at a time to sensitize your nose.

What the company claims:
"Gives bounce and volume with lustre. Improves hair texture.

For chemically damaged/ dull hair

With henna leaf extract, the essential oils of tea tree and rosemary, this conditioning shampoo cleanses the hair while improving its overall texture. Henna has been known since ancient times to give bounce and volume; tea tree wonderfully cleanses and adds lustre and shine."

My Experience
The Iraya Henna conditioning shampoo is a yellow colored shampoo. Its texture is a gel like base (not the regular creamy shampoos). The fragrance is not exactly henna but a blend of very mild fragrances - quite common to ayurvedic products.

It lathers well and leaves hair feeling very clean. I have used it after oiling of hair and it did a decent job of cleaning the hair of the oil without drying out my hair. Even without oil my hair feels really clean and soft after using this shampoo. It actually reminds me of the baby shampoos we used to have as kids, it's really mild but does the job well.

Passion Indulge Tea Tree Oil (For Active Acne) - Review

If you remember long back (I think in December 2013) I had hauled some organic skin care products. Today I'm sharing my review of one of the products I got during that haul. It is the Passion Indulge Tea Tree Oil for active acne. Tea Tree oil is an essential oil known for its antibacterial properties.

It is said that Tea Tree oil should be mixed in a carrier oil and then applied to the skin to treat acne. The Tea Tree oil from Passion Indulge comes in a dark blue glass bottle with a screw top cap. Details about the product and its usage are mentioned on the outer carton and there is a leaflet inside which gives more details.

Once you take off the screw cap you will find a plastic stopper inside which has a hold to dispense drop by drop. This is good because you only need a small amount of this oil and it prevents you from over-dispensing the product.
