Golden Christmas Nail Art

Hi everyone! This is a quick post to show you what I have on my nails for Christmas. I did something very simple and easy this year. This is also the theme of this week's STNChallenge for Winter Nails.

Golden Christmas Nail Art, christmas tree, merry christmas, kbshimmer, envy polish
Golden Christmas Nail Art

A free hand decorated Christmas tree on my accent nail and a stamped Merry Christmas message on the thumb. Couldn't strain my neck too much so opted out of doing anything that required more than 5 minutes to do.

I chose a golden polish called Golden Glow from Envy Polishes as the base. This is a translucent polish and I used three coats to get the shimmery golden base.

For the Christmas tree I used KB Shimmer Green Hex and Glam. This is a lovely green polish with different sized silver hex shaped glitter.

For the decorations I used the small half spherical beads from Born Pretty Store (use coupon code HPG10 to get 10% off - BPS ships worldwide and has some really cool nail art and other makeup products)

I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas celebrations.
Cheers to the countdown to New Year's Eve!

Water Color Nail Art - Rainbow Rain

Hi friends, today I'm sharing a recent nail art I did for the September nail art challenge in the STNChallenges. This month is all about learning new techniques. I have never done water color nails before and it was fun to create these rainbow nails.

Water color nail art is a technique where you thin out polish with acetone and apply it on your nails and before it dries out you lift off most of the color using a brush or a Q-tip (ear-bud). This leaves a ring of color with a pale hint inside. Depending on how you apply the thinned out polish you can get various results on your nails.

In my case I used thinned out acrylic paints instead of polish to create a rainbow effect on my nails.

And later on I stamped over it using Mo You London Suki plate to create a rain effect.

Easy Party Nail Art - Black And Silver Glitter Nails

Nailpolis is celebrating 1000000 followers on Facebook. And to be a part of their celebration I did party nails. I think any party would be incomplete with some black and some silver. So I created a simple to do nail art using Nails Inc Special Effects silver holo polish for the accent finger and Maybelline Glitter Mania Starry Nights (swatched HERE) for the black glitter nails.

Striping Tape Nail Art With Glitter Polish

Hi friends, how is your weekend going? I'm spending a lazy weekend trying to recover from a bad sprained neck (cervical I hate you!)
Anyhow, I am sharing here a mani I tried sometime back, you must have seen a picture of this on facebook

I had great fun doing this mani. I used silver sparkles polish from Street Wear as the base. Once the base dried out I used striping tape and place two strips very close to each other.

Striping Tape Mani - Valentine's Day Special (Tutorial)

Here is a quick nail art you can do on Valentine's day - you can swap the colors I used with a combo of red and white or red and black. Striping tape is a thin tape that is available at nail art supply stores. I will explain the basic steps for beginners (this is my first try with striping tape!)

1. Begin by painting your nails in the color you want to show up when you remove the tape. I alternated with a teal and a brown shade as a base. Let this dry completely.

Valentine's Nail Art Tutorial - Lady Bug Hearts

hi friends, today I'm sharing a nail art tutorial after a very long time. My nails are really short and I just didn't have the  mindset of doing any nail art but finally dragged myself of doing a cute nail art for Valentines day. I hope you find this tutorial useful.

I wanted to participate in a nail art challenge where the theme was animal print and all that came to my mind was leopard prints or giraffe prints. So then I decided I'll instead  do something that you guys can use for Valentine's day. And then it clicked, I thought why not merge the two themes together, so here is a Lady Bug Heart Nail Art - lady bug for the animal theme, and my favorite hearts for Valentine's day!

I did this in a hurry so the base is a single coat of a holo polish that I reviewed HERE. You can opt for any light colored base (my suggestion would be go for a pale pink, lavender or even lemon)

So here are the steps that you can use to create this super easy simple nail art for Valentine's Day.

Christmas Nail Art - Candy Cane Nails With Tutorial

In a nail art challenge the theme was to use 3 polishes that are your favorites. I love white and red on my nails but my favorite polish is the silver from China Glaze. So keeping in mind the coming Christmas joy, I decided to do a nail art inspired by the candy cane.

So I've got the white and red for the candy cane, and I added a bit of silver to signify the celebration mood during Christmas!

Floral Nail Art - Maybelline Color Show Hooked On Pink - 212

This is a quick post today on an extremely easy to do floral nail art for your toes. The theme is floral and bright, so I used Maybelline Color Show nail paint in Hooked On Pink which is a bright pink color. And to create the pattern I used a white nail art paint.

My toe nails are very tiny so the floral part is just done on the thumb nail. You can repeat the same pattern on the other toe nails if you have space.

Saran Wrap Nail Art - Simple Steps To Unique Designs

Today I'm sharing a simple nail art that I did quite a while back. Here I have tried the 'saran' nail art technique.

Saran nail art is a neat nail art technique that anybody can do, even beginners. All you need are two nail paints and some saran wrap (cling film from the kitchen or even bubble wrap sheets which has worn out)

Here are the steps for this saran nail art:

ORLY Instant Nail Artist Grape - Review and Swatches

OK so now after days of no review post here I am with a short and quick review of ORLY Instant Nail Artist. It is such a handy little thing when it comes to doing nail art. Since I'm not a professional nail artist I always used to underestimate the importance of the right tools. It was always just my toothpick and me living happily ever after with my nail paints until I came across this Artist!

I had purchased this bottle of a purple colored nail paint where the description told me that it was long lasting and had a lot of benefits. From the name I assumed it would be good for doing nail art and just purchased it and I am so glad I did!

I got this for $4.99 from BeautyStopOnline.com in my haul that I mentioned HERE

Acrylic Nail Art - Hot To Paint Your Nails

I had no idea I would enjoy painting my nails with my regular acrylic paints! It is true a lot of my nail blogging friends used to do spectacular art work on their nails while I used to wonder how could they do that with nail paint.

And then one of them told me that they used regular acrylic paints with regular painting brushes. When I tried it out I was simply super happy - trust me it is so much easier to do patters on your nails with acrylics and you can mix and match colors to create your own color palette.

I used Camlin acrylic paints with a 0 numbered brush from Camlin. It just bought back old memories of painting. I do not get much time to do regular paintings any more so the excitement in my heart was just something words cannot describe!

How To Use Nail Foil - N.NAIL Hot Galaxy Diamond Hidden Nail Foil Transfer

Nail foils are a good way of adding some dazzle to your nails without too much effort (well yes, once you get the hang of it!)

N.NAIL Hot Galaxy Diamond Hidden Nail Foil Transfer

I have the N.NAIL Hot Galaxy Diamond Hidden Nail Foil Transfer which is a dazzling mix of pink, golden and green with a diamond pattern.

To do nail foil nail art all you need are three things. Nail foil, nail glue and an ear bud (q-tip).

You begin by coating the nail with the nail glue, it is white in color, then you wait till it turns transparent (see the third pic below where the glue is drying off to a transparent color)

Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge - Who Inspires You

This week's theme for the Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge is Who Inspires You. If you are a regular blog follower you must already know that I am inspired by both my mom and my sister - for their simplicity and the way they lead their lives.

Now my sister is into scientific research while my mom is now retired but used to work in foreign affairs. Nail art depicting any of the two was very difficult especially with my chopped off short nails. So I decided to pick something common to them - that is simplicity. I chose soft pastels to do the nail art and I hope both of them like it!

Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge - Gotta Love Chick Flicks - Devil Wears Prada Nail Art

This week's Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge is all about chick flicks. I have many in my list but for a nail art inspired by a chick flick I picked The Devil Wears Prada. The colors red and black, the devilish heels - just what I picked for the nail art this week!

Girly Girl Nail Art Challenge - Gotta Love Chick Flicks - Devil Wears Prada Nail Art

I think this nail art is pretty simple to understand just from the pictures and hence I have not done a picture tutorial for it.

I used a bright red nail paint for the base and the pattern is created using a black nail paint. I am not very comfortable drawing neat lines with the brush yet so you will notice the lines are extremely straight. But overall I like this look on my nails (specially when the nails have grown a bit longer)

The heels of Devil Wears Prada are upside down (while on the first finger I've made it the opposite). You can do the same nail art reversing the heel pattern if you like.

Hope you liked this simple yet bold nail art. Oh and I finally found an easy way to do this watermark around the nail. The method of Gimp was very tedious and finally I found something that doesn't take ages to do. Comment below if you would like to know what I'm using now.

Beginners Needle Nail Art Tutorial

I am so excited today to share with you a fun nail art technique that I just learnt. Since I am new to this technique I thought I'd share a picture tutorial as well so for newbies like me so that you can follow it easily.

First let me present to you the final creation - drum rolls please!!!!!! (yeah I know I'm in love with my own nails as always!)

Needle Nail Art Marbling
Needle Nail Art Marbling

The concept here is very simple. You apply nail paint of your liking and then take a needle or a thin tip nail art tool and create any pattern on the wet nail paint. I think this is also called needle marbling nail art.

What I have tried is a version where three colored stripes are painted on the nails and the needle is moved in a zigzag pattern vertically down. This causes the paints to intermix in a lovely zigzag pattern.

What you will need - 3 nail paints of your choice - I have chosen pink, white and purple nail paints. A thin needle (I have used a nail art tool with a needle like end point)
